Summer Adventure Coast Guard Cutter Cruise July 12, 2012

-Past Event-
We had about 60 guys take the cruise on the Sundew on July 19, 2012.  It seems to have been a great time for those that attended.  Mighty Oaks Academy for men put on a great fish dinner and almost 40 guys ate before the cruise.

-Event Description-
Northland Sharpening Iron Area Men's Ministry
Summer Adventure
Evening Cruise on the Sundew July 19, 2012

(I know, I know, the subpage still says July 12, but do you know how much work it is to change it to July 19 ??  A lot !!)

Set sail with a group of Christian guys from all over the the Northland Area on the Retired Coast Guard Cutter, the Sundew, WLB-404, The Sundew was built in 1943 and served active duty as a buoy tender and ice breaker until 2004. The Sundew is now owned by Jeff Foster (of Jeff Foster Trucking). It is staffed by a group of experienced, licensed and dedicated volunteers.

This is an opportunity for Christian men from area churches to cruise the big lake, the harbor, and connect with other men of faith. Bring your son or grandson along too, age 13 and older. Pastor Fred Goldschmidt from Cloquet will bring a brief message especially tailored to men's adventure in serving the Lord. Eric Hofstad, Forester, will also share his testimony.

We will depart from the slip just west of the Bayfront Park in downtown Duluth at about 6:00 pm on Thursday, July 19, 2012. (Boarding will start about 5:30 pm.) Depending on weather conditions, the cruise will last for about 3 ½ hours. Bring your own lawn chairs, warm clothes and rain gear if it looks like foul weather. You are free to bring your own snacks and non-alcoholic beverages on board. Mighty Oaks Academy for Men is providing a fish fry “shore dinner” available dockside, with sides and a beverage served from 4:30 pm until 5:30 pm.

Reservations are required with a maximum number of 150 spots, accepted based on the order reservations are received. Please indicate with the reservation if it is for the cruise only, or for both the cruise and shore dinner. Northland Sharpening Iron suggests a donation of $25.00/person for the cruise, but it is not required. The suggested donation for the shore dinner is $10.00/person. All reservations must be made by email to Ted Sexton at sharpeningiron@gmail.com on or before July 13, 2012. Donations must be received by July 18, 2012.
