The 2017 Spring Northland Sharpening Iron Workshop Event at Clyde Iron Restaurant in Duluth is titled Creating Gospel Conversations about Jesus”. The speakers will be Pastor Fred Goldschmidt from Journey Christian Church (formerly Cloquet Gospel Tab), Pastor Terry White from New Life Covenant Church west of Twig a couple miles or so, and Pastor Josh LaVack from Engage Nazarene Church meeting at Clyde Iron Sunday mornings.

The theme for this event will be to talk about ways to show the Way to those with whom we interact in our Life Journey. No matter what your age, or who your friends, associates and contacts are, this message is targeted to be of great value to all of us in learning how to share faith to those around us. The messages for this years event will focus on tips and suggestions on having successful gospel conversations with the un-reached, un-churched and de-churched guys in our lives who are unlikely to respond to a church invitation or typical evangelistic meeting. We will see some ideas on “thinking out of the box” and "reaching out of the box of out local church buildings” for us guys to consider and put into practice. We also will do a panel Q & A discussion with the speakers after we hear their messages. Come prepared with some questions and examples of what you have seen work in the past, or some new ideas to consider!!!

Keep your MAN CARD current by calling me at 218-269-7809 by the week of April 17, 2017; or email me at sharpeningiron@gmail.com to sign up!! If you can, let me know fairly soon if you can make it to the workshop.  It helps Clyde Iron Restaurant to know a few days before the event how many are coming. But they are able to accommodate us even if you are unable to let me know before the event!! You can call or email me with the total number from your church or group of friends if you want to, I don't need names, just a count. Cost is suggested to be $15.00 at the door which covers the workshop, coffee, cookies and pizza lunch.

So don't forget, the 2017 Spring NLSI Workshop will be held at Clyde Iron Restaurant on Saturday morning, April 22, 2017 with registration from 8:00 am to 9:00 am and the workshop from 9:00 am to noon on April 22, 2017, with Pizza and Pepsi lunch afterwards.

It will be very helpful in getting the word out to area men about the Spring 2017 Northland Sharpening Iron Workshop.  If you can, get this invitation in your church bulletin, and forward this message about the workshop to your email list of friends. I encourage you to get a small group of guys to come together. If you are on Facebook, feel free to show it there also.  If any women are reading this, mention it to the men in your lives!!

 About Northland Sharpening Iron

A Man's Spiritual Growth
  • A Man's spiritual growth is very critical to his own life and health, to his family's life, to his church's life, to the community, and for our country; but primarily it is important to the Kingdom work of the Lord.
  • A Man's spiritual growth can be positively impacted by specific ministries targeted towards men.  These ministries should primarily be a part of the local church, but there is also value with a more broad based, area wide local men's ministry.
  • Christian Men are to be about mentoring, supporting and encouraging each other, "As Iron Sharpening Iron....".
Northland Sharpening Iron Men's Ministry Focus
This ministry is intended to be Christ centered and tailored to encourage and strengthen a man's spiritual growth and strengthening Men's Ministries in all local churches from the Northland area; Duluth, Superior, (Twin Ports) and surrounding area.

Go to the page https://sites.google.com/site/northlandsharpeningironorg/home/northland-mens-ministry-groups to see what ministries are currently posted at this time

It is the goal that NLSI be bible based, and also be effective in being sensitive to the traditions and style of the individual local churches that participate.
In my experience with Men's Ministry, different men are moved by different things.  Adventure, hunting, and fishing are vital to some, others are builders and constructors at heart, some need to compete and meet challenges, while others are moved by learning.  And some men like to fix things (Ya think??).  Many are inspired by service or caring.  And a number of men are in need of deliverance from sin and healing from past woundings or poor choices.  But all are in need to respond positively to the love of Jesus.  Hopefully the various existing and new Men's Ministries in our area can effectively meet the interests and needs of the men in our community.
The Future of the Northland Sharpening Iron Men's Ministry.

It is my hope that the Northland Sharpening Iron Men's Ministry will not only encourage growth in men's ministries in the local churches, but also grow into an ongoing ministry for Christian Men in the area.  If enough interest becomes evident; workshops, seminars, conferences and joint efforts between men's fellowships will be held from time to time.
